Expanded Functions Dental Assistant-Sign-On Bonus

As a community-focused practice dedicated to ensuring every child has access to dental care, regardless of circumstances, the Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) will support Kids Smiles Dentists in patient care and related office duties. This role involves maintaining records, managing clerical tasks, and assisting with diagnostic procedures. The EFDA will perform clinical support functions such as preparing and dismissing patients, carrying out various dental treatments, and handling laboratory responsibilities, all within the scope permitted by state regulations.

Sign-On Bonus: \$1,000 (paid in installments over 3 months)

Schedule:

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday
8:45 AM to 5:00/5:15 PM

Key Responsibilities

Welcome patients and prepare them for dental procedures
Set up treatment areas with appropriate instruments and materials as directed
Document findings from oral examinations
Assist during exams and treatments by providing instruments and dispensing materials
Provide pre- and post-operative care for patients receiving general or local anesthesia
Perform expanded functions allowed by state licensure, including but not limited to:

Placing fillings
Applying sealants
Performing prophy cleanings on eligible patients
Use handheld suction or air/water spray equipment to clear the patient’s mouth during procedures
Mix amalgam and synthetic filling materials according to instructions
Clean, sterilize instruments, maintain surgery cleanliness, and adhere to infection control protocols
Expose and process dental x-rays as directed by the dentist
Maintain and restock dental supplies
Perform routine maintenance and care of dental equipment and instruments
Flexibility to assist at other office locations as needed

Required Experience & Skills

High School Diploma or GED
Valid Commonwealth of Pennsylvania license
X-Ray certification (required)
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Excellent organizational and time management abilities

Pay: \$28.00 - \$31.00 per hour
Expected Hours: 21 – 24 hours per week
Shift: 8-hour day shifts, Monday to Friday
Work Location: In-person, Philadelphia, PA 19154 (relocation required before start)
