General Dentist Opportunity at San Diego American Indian Health Center (SDAIHC)
Location: San Diego, CA

Position Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled General Dentist to join our dental team. Under the general direction of the Dental Director, the General Dentist will diagnose and treat diseases, injuries, and malformations of teeth, gums, and related oral structures. This role involves providing comprehensive dental care to patients, including children, youth, families, adults, and elders, in a culturally sensitive and patient-centered environment.

Key Responsibilities

Diagnosis and Treatment Planning: Assess patients' oral health and develop appropriate treatment plans.
Preventive Care: Perform oral prophylaxis, apply sealants and fluoride treatments, and educate patients on oral hygiene practices.
Restorative and Cosmetic Procedures: Conduct fillings, crowns, bridges, and other restorative treatments.
Oral Surgery: Perform extractions and other necessary surgical procedures.
Endodontics: Provide root canal therapy as needed.
Periodontics: Manage non-surgical periodontal treatments.
Patient Education: Promote health and disease prevention through patient education.
Collaboration: Work closely with dental assistants, hygienists, and other healthcare providers to deliver comprehensive care.
Documentation: Maintain accurate patient records and comply with all regulatory requirements.(sdaihc.org)

Qualifications

Required:

Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (D.M.D.) degree.
Active and unrestricted dental license in the state of California.
DEA registration in good standing.
Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Preferred:

Experience serving a multicultural and underserved population.
Familiarity with Electronic Health Records (EHR), specifically eClinicalWorks (eCW).
Background in Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) or Indian Health Clinics.sdaihc.org
