Position Overview:
As a Dental Assistant, you will play a crucial role in delivering dental care under the supervision of a dentist, while also providing essential secretarial support. You’ll assist the Clinical Director and Manager with daily clinic operations and support staff dentists, volunteer dentists, and hygienists during various chairside procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist staff and volunteer dentists and hygienists with chairside procedures typical in a general dental practice.
- Prepare treatment rooms by ensuring all necessary supplies, instruments, and equipment are ready for each procedure.
- Take dental radiographs under the direction of the dentist/hygienist, including positioning the x-ray device, capturing images, and entering patient data into the system.
- Adhere to OSHA and infection control guidelines, including operating and monitoring the sterilization machine, and running monthly reports to ensure proper functioning.
- Perform clerical tasks as assigned by the Clinical Director or Manager.
- Maintain adequate dental and office supplies in the operatory, print patient discharge summaries, process payments, and provide receipts.
- Register and schedule appointments for multiple dentists and hygienists, communicate with patients to confirm or schedule appointments, and manage patient information using the clinic’s software system.
Requirements:
- Associate's Degree preferred
- 2 years of dental assisting experience required, including at least 1 year of chairside experience and familiarity with dental office software, instrumentation, and infection control techniques. Alternatively, 2 years of chairside experience without a college degree or state-accredited dental assisting school is acceptable.
- AHA Heartsaver CPR certification required
- Dental Assistant (RDA) certification from American Medical Technologists (AMT) preferred
- Valid Driver's License required
