Surgical Dental Assistant – Sign-on Bonus $1,000!

New York Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery is seeking a motivated and experienced Surgical Dental Assistant to join our dedicated team! This is a unique and exciting opportunity for an individual passionate about oral surgery and committed to providing exceptional patient care.

As a Surgical Dental Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting our Oral Surgeons during surgical procedures and ensuring that every patient receives compassionate, high-quality care in a comfortable environment.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare the Treatment Room

Maintain a clean, organized, and fully equipped treatment area
Sterilize instruments and adhere to all infection control protocols
Set up surgical equipment, including suction devices, X-ray machines, dental chairs, and surgical lighting

Assist During Oral Surgery Procedures

Prepare patients for surgery, explaining procedures and addressing concerns
Anticipate the surgeon’s needs and provide the necessary instruments and materials during procedures
Maintain a sterile field and follow strict safety standards
Monitor patients’ vital signs and comfort throughout surgery
Handle and dispose of surgical waste and hazardous materials according to regulations

Provide Patient Support and Education

Deliver post-operative care instructions, including oral hygiene, medications, and dietary guidelines
Offer reassurance and empathetic communication throughout treatment
Educate patients on oral health maintenance and the importance of ongoing care
Accurately document treatment plans, procedures, and patient progress

Administrative and Operational Duties

Schedule and coordinate patient appointments for optimal office flow
Manage and update patient records, medical histories, billing, and insurance documentation
Maintain inventory, order supplies, and ensure equipment is properly maintained
Perform additional duties as assigned to support the practice’s success

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required
Valid X-ray license highly preferred
Previous experience as a Dental Assistant, particularly in Oral Surgery, strongly preferred
Experience with patient discharge procedures preferred
Solid understanding of oral surgery instruments, procedures, and materials
Strong knowledge of infection control and safety protocols
Excellent multitasking, organizational, and communication skills
Compassionate, patient-focused demeanor with a professional attitude
Proficiency with dental software and general computer skills
