We are seeking a versatile, cross-trained Dental Assistant who can support both the clinical and administrative operations of our practice. In this role, you will move fluidly between the back and front office—assisting with procedures one moment and helping patients understand treatment plans or insurance details the next.

Cross-Trained Dental Assistant (Clinical & Front Office)
Desert Foothills Dental | Ahwatukee Foothills, Phoenix, AZ

Desert Foothills Dental is an established private practice located in the Ahwatukee Foothills. What sets us apart is our blend of time-tested values and modern systems. We believe diverse, eclectic individuals can work together seamlessly to deliver highly personalized patient care. Our newly built office reflects this philosophy—rooted in integrity while adapting to an evolving dental landscape.

The Role: A True Utility Player

Success in this position requires strong multitasking skills, adaptability, and the ability to communicate with honesty and clarity. Your impact will be felt in both patient comfort during treatment and confidence in financial decision-making.

Our Core Values

We hire for the first three values and intentionally develop the rest:

Work Ethic: Dependable, prepared, and committed to continuous growth
Good Character: Integrity-driven, even when no one is watching
Warm Personality: Kind, respectful, and welcoming to all
Communication: Honest, respectful dialogue (“Radical Candor”)
Calibration: Alignment with shared goals through regular check-ins
Celebration: Recognizing wins—big and small—to fuel motivation

A Day in the Life

Your responsibilities will vary throughout the day, including:

Arriving between 7:00–7:15 AM for morning huddle
Assisting with restorative procedures, X-rays, suctioning, and sterilization
Managing operatory turnover and clinical flow
Verifying insurance and explaining benefits using Open Dental, Vyne, and Verrific
Reviewing treatment plans and financial arrangements with patients
Supporting teammates to ensure balanced workflow across the office

This Role Is Ideal If You:

Thrive in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment
Can translate clinical diagnoses into clear financial conversations
Take initiative and value a strong, “old-school” work ethic
Prefer direct, respectful communication
Are highly detail-oriented in both clinical and administrative tasks

This Role May Not Be a Fit If You:

Are uncomfortable with confident financial discussions
Prefer limited technology use (we are fully digital)
Focus more on big-picture concepts than precise execution

Requirements

Experience: Minimum 1 year of Dental Assisting experience with exposure to front office duties
Certification: X-Ray Certification (required); Coronal Polish preferred
Software: Open Dental experience strongly preferred

Compensation & Benefits

Pay: $20.00 – $27.00 per hour (based on experience)
Job Type: Full-time or Part-time
Benefits Include:
