Purpose:
To provide thorough dental prophylaxis and identify, monitor, and treat the patient’s periodontal condition. The Dental Hygienist will also educate patients about their oral health by using visual aids such as images, models, and diagrams. Comprehensive oral hygiene instruction and patient education will be a key part of each visit to help patients maintain long-term dental health.

Administrative & Clinical Duties:
Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient dental records
Take and process necessary radiographs, including problem-focused x-rays when needed
Prepare for appointments by reviewing patient history and previous treatments
Coordinate with the front desk if any required prior work is incomplete
Welcome patients warmly and ensure they are comfortable
Perform hygiene procedures including prophylaxis, scaling, root planing, debridement, fluoride treatments
Review the day’s schedule during the morning meeting, fully prepared in uniform
Evaluate oral health and increase patient awareness and motivation for at-home care
Communicate treatment needs to the front desk team (not directly to patients)
Keep operatories clean, organized, and fully stocked—even during treatment
Escort patients to the front desk for checkout and future scheduling
Sterilize instruments following proper protocols
Complete lab tasks as instructed by the dentist
Skills and Qualifications:
Licensed and experienced Dental Hygienist
Proficient with dental instruments and sterilization procedures
Knowledge of OSHA and health & safety protocols
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Highly organized with strong attention to detail
Professional, dependable, and patient-focused
