Job Description

Position Title: Dental Assistant
Job Purpose: To support the delivery of high-quality dental care by preparing treatment rooms, assisting during procedures, caring for patients, and maintaining clinical equipment and supplies.
Key Responsibilities:
Treatment Room Preparation
Prepare treatment rooms following prescribed protocols
Ensure instruments, materials, and equipment are properly set up and ready for use
Patient Care & Comfort
Greet and seat patients, ensuring their comfort throughout the visit
Provide information, answer questions, and ease patient concerns
Clinical Assistance
Assist the dentist chairside using four-handed dentistry techniques
Pass and position instruments, manage suction, and provide materials as needed
Take radiographs, pour and trim models, and fabricate temporary restorations
Patient Education
Deliver oral hygiene instructions and postoperative care guidance
Support patient understanding of recommended treatments and preventative care
Emergency Preparedness
Maintain current CPR certification
Ensure emergency supplies (oxygen, medications, directories) are available and up to date
Record Keeping
Accurately chart dental services in patient records
Maintain confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations
Infection Control & Safety
Adhere to strict infection control protocols
Ensure a clean, organized, and safe clinical environment for patients and staff
Equipment Maintenance
Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of dental equipment
Maintain inventory and schedule repairs as needed
Supply Management
Monitor inventory levels, place orders, and verify receipt of supplies
Ensure optimal use of resources to prevent shortages or waste
Professional Development
Stay current through continuing education, training, and professional networking
Actively seek growth in technical and patient care skills
Skills & Qualifications:
Strong understanding of dental procedures and health maintenance
Proficient in infection control and sterilization techniques
Excellent communication, teamwork, and patient service skills
Ability to multitask and stay organized in a fast-paced environment
Knowledge of dental technology, diagnostic procedures, and equipment usage
Empathy, attention to detail, and a professional bedside manner
