Job Description
We are seeking a reliable and skilled Dental Assistant to support a full range of clinical procedures and provide administrative assistance in our dental practice. The ideal candidate will work chairside with dental providers, perform radiological duties (RDA-certified), and contribute to the smooth operation of both clinical and front office tasks.

Job Type: Full-Time
Reports to: Dental Office Manager / Lead Dentist
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Support:
Provide chairside assistance during dental procedures (operative, preventive, periodontal, endodontic, prosthetic, surgical, etc.)
Transfer instruments, maintain oral isolation, evacuate oral fluids, retract tissues, and assist with charting and post-op care
Prepare, sterilize, and set up operatories and instruments according to dental protocols and infection control standards
Take dental radiographs (RDA required) and follow all radiation safety procedures
Assist hygienists in patient prep and operatory readiness
Equipment & Inventory Management:
Monitor and maintain dental equipment (e.g., compressor, suction, sterilizers, radiography units)
Track inventory and assist with dental supply orders
Administrative Duties:
Assist with front office operations: appointment scheduling, patient recalls, and confirmation calls
Deliver high-quality customer service via phone, in-person, or other communication channels
Maintain accurate dental lab records and ensure timely case tracking
Maintenance & Compliance:
Keep operatories and equipment clean and organized; dispose of waste per biohazard protocols
Maintain daily logs for equipment and cleaning procedures
Ensure compliance with infection control, OSHA, HIPAA, and other regulatory requirements
Participate in quality improvement initiatives related to dental services
Other Duties:
Perform additional tasks as assigned by supervisors
Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED
Current Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) certification from the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners (TSBDE) or eligibility to obtain within the first year
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (American Heart Association)
Completion of TSBDE-required continuing education for license renewal
Nitrous Oxide Monitoring Certification (preferred)
Bilingual in English and Spanish (preferred)
Flexibility with schedule and potential work location changes
Physical & Mental Requirements:
Frequent use of hands and fingers for fine motor tasks
Ability to sit and stand for prolonged periods (50/50)
Ability to lift up to 25 lbs., push/pull up to 45 lbs.
Visual acuity for computer work and clinical assessment
Clear verbal communication and effective hearing for patient interaction
