Senior Dental Assistant

Join the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK) team as a Senior Dental Assistant within our Dental Service. MSK’s Dental Service has been providing essential dental care to individuals undergoing or who have completed chemotherapy, radiation therapy, or surgery for cancer and related conditions since 1934. Our services include diagnosis, consultation, and treatment for patients with complex medical needs, in both outpatient and inpatient settings.

Role Overview:

- Collaborate with the management team to implement best practices and monitor workflows, ensuring efficient and accurate procedures during patient exams.

- Handle pre- and post-treatment tasks, including managing sterile instruments, organizing examination rooms, ensuring the availability of necessary supplies, and maintaining inventory.

- Assist during exams by charting, preparing materials, passing instruments, and suctioning.

- Provide leadership and mentorship to dental assistant team members, fostering professional growth and development.

- Contribute to the onboarding and training of new staff, ensuring a smooth integration into the team.

- Step in for the Dental Manager as needed, including staff reallocation, leading daily huddles, and conducting clinical rounds.

Key Qualifications:

- 2-4 years of experience as a Dental Assistant with increasing leadership responsibilities.

- Supervisory experience preferred.

- Strong knowledge of dental technologies, including radiographic equipment (intra-oral, panoramic, and CBCT), and the ability to capture diagnostic-quality radiographs.

- Proven ability to lead and provide guidance in a team setting.

- In-depth knowledge of infection control and prevention practices in dental environments.

- Experience working with patients of all ages, from children to older adults.

Additional Information:

- Location: Positions available at MSK’s two NYC clinic locations: Main Campus Hospital (1275 York Ave) and the David H. Koch Center for Cancer Care (530 East 74th Street).

- Schedule: Shifts scheduled between 9:00 am – 5:00 pm, with availability for rotating shifts from 8:00 am – 6:00 pm.

- Pay Range: $27.80 – $43.08 per hour.
