Overview

As a Registered Dental Assistant (RDA), you will perform a variety of patient care, office, and laboratory duties. Your primary role will be to assist the dentist in securing patient commitment to the best possible treatment.

Key Responsibilities:

- Assist the dentist in initiating treatment by using x-rays to highlight the dentist’s strengths and learning patient expectations through intra-oral pictures.

- Utilize effective chair-side skills to support the dentist’s diagnosis and address patient inquiries after examinations.

- Ensure compliance with state and federal safety regulations, infection control standards, and permitted duties.

Specific Duties:

- Foster a “Perfect Patient Experience” by keeping patients focused on optimal treatment while addressing their individual needs and concerns.

- Maintain a clean, sterile, and inviting environment for patients.

- Prepare patients for treatment and assist doctors to facilitate efficient, quality dental care.

- Complete x-rays and intra-oral images as directed by the dentist.

- Instruct patients on postoperative and general oral health care as needed.

- Sterilize and disinfect instruments and equipment according to American Dental Association guidelines.

- Adhere to all relevant regulations, including OSHA, HIPAA, and state dental board policies.

Qualifications:

- High school diploma or GED, along with state-mandated training for certification, licensure, or registration.

- Required certifications and licenses (e.g., coronal polishing, radiograph exposure).

- An associate degree or one-year certificate from an accredited college or technical school is preferred, but equivalent experience is also acceptable.
