LOCATION: HOPE Clinic  

REPORTS TO: Assigned Supervisor  

EDUCATION: High school diploma or GED required; associate's degree preferred. Must be a registered or certified dental assistant (DA).  

WORK EXPERIENCE: Minimum of one (1) year of dental assistant experience.  

STARTING SALARY: $15/hour  

FLSA STATUS: Hourly - Non-exempt  

POSITION TYPE: Full-Time  

LANGUAGE: Fluency in English is required; bilingual in English and Spanish, Arabic, Burmese, Chinese, or other languages is preferred.

JOB SUMMARY:  

Assist dentists in delivering comprehensive dental care, including advanced and specialized dental assistant tasks.  

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Ensure patient comfort and prepare them for treatments.  

- Sterilize dental instruments and set up work areas for patient procedures.  

- Assist dentists by providing instruments during procedures.  

- Use suction hoses and other equipment to keep patients’ mouths dry.  

- Educate patients on proper dental hygiene.  

- Process x-rays and perform lab tasks under a dentist's guidance.  

- Maintain accurate records of dental treatments and schedule patient appointments.  

- Handle billing and payment interactions with patients.  

- May assist multiple dentists simultaneously.  

- Take, develop, and mount x-rays; perform specialized radiography as needed.  

- Set up and sterilize exam rooms and equipment, adhering to safety standards.  

- Order and stock supplies; maintain dental equipment.  

- Respond to patient inquiries about clinic operations and appointment scheduling.  

- Assist in patient triage and initial assessments.  

- Help train new dental assistants as needed.  

- Prepare and maintain dental records and reports.  

- Follow directions from dentists and hygienists to support all procedures.  

- Perform additional duties to uphold HOPE Clinic’s mission, vision, and values.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

- Certified or Registered Dental Assistant (DA).  

- Current radiography certification required.  

- State-required Dental Assistant certification or ability to obtain it.  

- Current CPR certification preferred.  

- Certification to monitor Nitrous Oxide/Oxygen analgesia preferred.  

- Experience in a professional setting with direct patient contact preferred.  

- Excellent customer service skills and a positive attitude.  

- Professionalism and integrity in all communications.  

- Strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.  

- Strong organizational and analytical skills.  

- Ability to multitask and remain calm in a fast-paced environment.  

- Proficient with computers and willing to learn new software as needed.  

- Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 with the recommended dosage.  

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

- High school diploma or GED required; associate's degree preferred.  

- Minimum of one (1) year of dental assistant experience with DA certification/registration.  

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:  

- Bilingual (Vietnamese, Chinese, Arabic, or Spanish) is preferred.  

- Strong language, public speaking, and writing skills.  

- Valid Texas driver’s license and reliable transportation required.
