
Orthodontic Assistant at Premier Orthodontics
Job Description
The Orthodontic Assistant plays a key role in supporting the orthodontist and delivering high-quality patient care throughout orthodontic treatment. This position helps ensure efficient, comfortable visits by assisting during procedures, managing clinical equipment, and maintaining the highest standards of infection control and patient safety.
Responsibilities
Assist the orthodontist during orthodontic procedures, including placing and removing braces, adjusting wires, taking impressions, and applying or removing elastics and other appliances
Ensure patient comfort throughout treatment and respond to patient needs with professionalism and care
Prepare patients for procedures by explaining treatment steps and addressing questions or concerns
Position patients properly and organize instruments and materials for efficient workflow
Prepare, clean, and sterilize instruments and equipment in accordance with infection control protocols
Maintain clean, organized, and well-stocked clinical areas
Take diagnostic X-rays, panoramic images, and digital scans as needed for treatment planning
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of an accredited orthodontic assisting program preferred
1–2 years of experience as an orthodontic assistant or dental assistant, with orthodontic experience preferred
Familiarity with orthodontic procedures, appliances, and terminology
Strong manual dexterity and attention to detail
Excellent communication skills and a patient-focused approach
Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations
