Position Overview
The Dental Assistant provides chairside support in all phases of restorative, prosthodontic, surgical, endodontic, and periodontal treatments. This role reports to NATIVE HEALTH’s Dentist and operates under the general supervision of the Dental Director.
Key Responsibilities
Patient Care & Support
Welcome and assist patients, ensuring a smooth clinic flow
Record patient medical history and treatment details
Educate patients on brushing, flossing, and oral hygiene
Relay post-treatment care instructions as directed by the dentist
Chairside Assistance
Assist in all phases of general dentistry using four-handed dentistry techniques
Pass instruments, retract tissue, and maintain aseptic conditions during surgical procedures
Monitor patient condition for any signs of distress
Equipment & Office Maintenance
Maintain and sterilize instruments, equipment, and operatory
Prepare and organize necessary tools for each procedure
Follow infection control and OSHA compliance standards
Order and stock dental supplies
X-Ray & Lab Duties
Operate dental X-ray equipment for intra and extra-oral radiographs
Take impressions, pour, and trim models
Apply topical fluoride and desensitizing agents
Qualifications & Requirements
Dental Assistant Certification from an accredited institution
Radiology Certification (as per Arizona State Dental Laws)
Must obtain Sealant & Coronal Polishing Certification within 90 days of hire
3+ years of chairside dental assisting experience
Ability to handle confidential patient information
Employment Requirement
Valid Arizona Driver’s License (or obtain within 30 days if out-of-state)
Clear Background Check & Class I Fingerprint Clearance Card within 90 days
Up-to-date immunization records
Current TB test results
CPR/First Aid Certification (must obtain within 90 days)
Drug-free workplace: Must pass pre-employment substance testing & random testing
Skills & Abilities
Knowledge of dental anatomy & common dental disorders
Proficiency in dental X-ray operation & instrument handling
Strong communication skills for patient education
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
