
Dental Surgery Assistant Position
Job Description
We are currently seeking a skilled and dependable Dental Surgery Assistant to support our team in delivering exceptional periodontal care. This is an excellent opportunity to join a respected, privately owned practice where patient experience and clinical excellence are top priorities.
Requirements
To be considered, candidates must have:
- Valid Texas Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) certification
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Experience with Dentrix Ascend (preferred)
- Proven ability to multitask in a fast-paced clinical environment
- A positive, team-oriented attitude
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the doctor during periodontal and dental surgery procedures, including:
- Retraction, suctioning, isolation, and airway protection
- Monitoring patient comfort and vitals throughout procedures
- Prepare for and assist with procedures involving local anesthesia, nitrous oxide, and IV sedation
- Pass dental instruments, implant components, and surgical materials efficiently
- Provide clear and compassionate pre- and post-operative instructions to patients
- Take dental x-rays and assist with impression materials, as directed
- Disinfect and sterilize equipment, maintain organized surgical trays and instruments
- Request medical clearances from physicians when necessary
- Uphold infection control protocols and adhere to health and safety regulations
- Support front office tasks as needed, including:
- Scheduling appointments
- Greeting and receiving patients
- Managing inventory and ordering supplies
- Maintaining accurate patient records
- Perform any additional duties as allowed by Texas state regulations and licensing requirements
