Dental Hygienist

Under the general supervision of the on-site dentist and the Chief Dental Officer, the Dental Hygienist will provide a range of periodontal treatments, including scaling and root planing, prophylaxis, sealant and fluoride placement, patient education, and other duties in accordance with current dental license and state regulations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

- Deliver preventive, therapeutic, and educational services for the control of oral disease for both children and adults, in compliance with state guidelines.

- Collect and organize patient data to assist the dentist with diagnosis and treatment, including medical/dental histories, x-rays, impressions, and oral examination charting.

- Maintain a sterile environment for instruments, trays, and dental equipment, following clinic policies, OSHA, CDC, and ADA standards for sterilization and equipment maintenance.

- Document patient information accurately in the digital dental record using EDR software, adhering to state guidelines and HIPAA standards.

- Participate in community oral health outreach and the portable dentistry program as needed.

- Provide backup support as a dental assistant when required.

- Engage in Quality Assurance and Improvement (QAI) activities as assigned by the Chief Dental Officer.

- Perform other related duties as assigned by the dentist or Chief Dental Officer.

Qualifications:

- Licensed Dental Hygienist in the State of Illinois with good standing.

- Certified to administer local anesthetics.

- Current CPR certification.

Knowledge/Skills:

- Proficient in setting up and preparing dental equipment and instrumentation in line with established regulations and guidelines.

- Capable of providing hygiene care to patients of diverse ages and backgrounds based on the dentist's treatment plans.

- Knowledgeable in dental office infection control practices to meet OSHA, CDC, and ADA standards.

- A team player who accepts and provides guidance and supervision as necessary.

- Active participation in staff meetings to review and contribute to meeting financial and productivity goals for the dental program.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: Starting at $46.00 per hour

Expected Hours: Minimum of 24 hours per week
