General Job Description

Under the supervision of the Dental Director, the Dental Hygienist will provide oral prophylaxis and educate patients on oral health care and disease prevention. As a member of the FHCSD team, you will demonstrate a commitment to delivering compassionate, affordable, and high-quality healthcare, particularly to uninsured, low-income, and medically underserved individuals. You thrive in a fast-paced environment, working with a diverse patient base, and take pride in making a difference in the community. Collaboration with the dental team to ensure excellence in patient care is essential.

Job Responsibilities

- Accurately complete all required documentation in a timely manner, ensuring compliance with department standards and patient insurance requirements.

- Participate in the development and review of hygiene protocols, audit procedures, and quality assurance processes.

- Perform preventive dental procedures, including dental prophylaxis, root planning, scaling, sealants, and oral health education.

- Consult and refer patients to dentists, dental specialists, or medical providers as necessary, understanding the scope of practice.

- Utilize resources efficiently and practice in a cost-effective manner.

- Perform additional duties as assigned.

Education/Certifications/Licenses

- Preferred: 2 years of clinical experience.

- California Registered Hygienist or D.D.S. License.

- Graduate of an accredited Dental Hygiene program.

Experience/Specialized Skills

- Ability to work effectively with diverse social, cultural, and economic groups.

- Strong teamwork skills, with the ability to work independently.

- Basic computer literacy to meet departmental needs (e.g., electronic medical records, patient follow-ups).

- Bilingual in Spanish/English preferred.

- Cultural sensitivity and respect for diversity.

- Knowledge of relevant dental practices, protocols, and trends.

- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.

- Strong written and verbal communication skills.

- Understanding and adherence to the scope of practice.

Compensation

In the spirit of pay transparency, we are pleased to share the base salary range for this position, exclusive of fringe benefits or potential bonuses: $37.70 - $53.76.

Final base salary will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, jurisdictional requirements, skills, education, and experience. We also value pay equity and consider internal equity among our current team members when making offers. The range provided reflects our expectations for the role, and hiring at the maximum is not typical to allow for future salary growth. Additionally, we offer a generous compensation and benefits package.
