Job Title: Dental Assistant (Unlicensed)
Status: Full-Time, Non-Exempt
Salary Range: \$45,760 – \$47,840 annually + benefits
Location: South Central Family Health Center – Los Angeles, CA

Position Summary
Under the supervision of a licensed dentist, the Unlicensed Dental Assistant supports daily dental operations, prepares patients for treatment, assists during procedures, and ensures cleanliness and functionality of equipment and treatment rooms. The role also involves administrative tasks such as record keeping and patient education.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare patients for dental procedures with a warm and professional demeanor
Set up instrument trays, sterilize tools, and ensure exam rooms are prepared
Assist dentists chairside during exams and treatments
Educate patients on oral hygiene, plaque control, and post-op care
Record medical/dental histories, treatment details, and vital signs
Support in managing dental or medical emergencies
Maintain and monitor dental equipment; report maintenance needs
Manage dental supply inventory and place orders as needed
Follow infection control, safety, and HIPAA guidelines
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent (required)
Graduate of a CODA-accredited dental assisting program (required)
Current Dental Assistant Certificate
BLS certification (required)
Experience
1 to 3 years of dental assisting experience (required)
Front and back-office experience (0–2.5 years preferred)
Training from an accredited dental assisting program
Skills & Competencies
Bilingual/biliterate in English and Spanish (preferred)
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Excellent documentation and charting ability
Organized, team-oriented, and able to multitask effectively
Comfortable using dental software and electronic health records
