Dental Assistant Job at Heritage Dental Center in San Antonio

We are seeking a motivated and skilled Dental Assistant to join our dedicated dental team. In this role, you will be an essential part of our practice, helping create a smooth, comfortable, and positive experience for our patients while supporting the dentist with both clinical and administrative responsibilities.

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:45 AM–5:00 PM

Key Responsibilities

Patient Care & Comfort: Greet and prepare patients for exams and procedures, ensuring comfort and addressing any concerns
Chairside Assisting: Set up instruments, equipment, and materials; assist the dentist using four-handed dentistry techniques
Sterilization & Safety: Follow proper sterilization and infection control protocols in compliance with health regulations
Lab & Post-Operative Support: Assist with lab tasks as directed and provide post-operative care instructions to patients
Record Management: Maintain accurate patient charts, treatment documentation, and assist with payment processes
Scheduling & Office Support: Help schedule appointments and support daily office operations to ensure a smooth workflow
Operatory Maintenance: Keep treatment rooms clean, organized, and fully stocked
Regulated Duties: Perform non-surgical tasks such as coronal polishing (if certified) and other permitted duties per state regulations

Requirements & Qualifications

Experience: Prior dental assisting experience in a clinical setting preferred
Certification: Dental Assistant Certification (CDA or RDA) required

EFDA and/or Radiology certifications are a plus
Technical Skills:

Strong knowledge of dental instruments, procedures, sterilization, and infection control
Familiarity with dental practice management software such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft preferred
Clinical Skills: Ability to perform regulated non-surgical tasks as permitted by certification
Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills with a patient-first approach
Organization: Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask effectively
Teamwork: Ability to collaborate in a team-oriented environment while delivering high-quality care
