Registered Dental Assistant (Fixed-Term)

Position Overview:

This role begins as a fixed-term appointment for 6 months, with the potential for conversion to a permanent position.

USC's Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry is seeking a Registered Dental Assistant to join the Department of Dental Public Health and Community Outreach Programs. The role requires flexibility to work at various off-campus locations and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with diverse personalities.

Key Responsibilities:

- Provide administrative support and skilled chairside assistance to clinical faculty, doctoral dental students, and post-doctoral students during dental procedures.

- Operate independently with moderate technical guidance.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Education: Associate's Degree

- Experience: At least 6 months of relevant experience

- Field of Expertise: Proficiency in dental management systems (preferably AxiUm). Bilingual in Spanish and English, with strong verbal and written communication skills.

- Demonstrated experience across various dental disciplines.

Salary:

The hourly rate for this position ranges from $X.XX to $X.XX. The University considers various factors, including the position's responsibilities, the candidate's experience, education, skills, internal equity, and relevant laws when extending an offer of employment.

Minimum Requirements:

- Education: Specialized/technical training

- Experience: 3 years of chairside experience in a dental environment or private practice, across one or more dental disciplines (general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, periodontics, oral surgery, pedodontics, orthodontics, special patients).

- Skills: Knowledge of HIPAA compliance, PPO, and dental terminology; excellent interpersonal patient service skills; ability to multitask; proper sterilization and instrument management techniques; experience in high-volume, fast-paced environments; team-oriented and collaborative work style.

- Licenses/Certifications: Current California Registered Dental Assistant License, California X-Ray Certificate, CPR Certification, and Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers Certification.
