Dental Assistant

As a vital part of our dental team, you will assist dentists in providing clinical care to patients. Your responsibilities will include preparing patients, sterilizing and disinfecting instruments, and setting up instrument trays. You’ll also record treatment information, take dental X-rays, and provide post-operative instructions as directed by the dentists. Additionally, you'll monitor patient flow and communicate with the Treatment Coordinator if follow-up is needed after challenging appointments. Keeping treatment rooms clean and organized while adhering to office protocols is essential.

Essential Qualifications:

Education and Training:

- High school diploma or equivalent.

- Graduation from an accredited dental assisting program or relevant dental assisting experience.

Knowledge and Skills:

- Familiarity with dental terminology.

- Understanding and adherence to dental practice policies and procedures.

- Knowledge of HIPAA and the HITECH Act of 2009.

- Proficient in dental software and general computer skills.

Key Responsibilities:

Patient Management:

- Greet patients upon arrival and monitor their check-in times.

- Set up treatment rooms for various procedures.

- Escort patients to treatment areas and help them feel at ease.

Treatment Room Management and Sterilization:

- Keep dental units clean, stocked, and ready for use.

- Ensure treatment rooms maintain cleanliness in line with sterilization protocols.

- Disinfect treatment areas according to OSHA regulations.

Records Management:

- Safely handle and store patient records in compliance with state and federal laws.

- Accurately file patient information and organize charts and radiographs for upcoming appointments.

Inventory Management:

- Monitor inventory levels and order dental supplies as necessary.

- Ensure treatment rooms are consistently stocked with required materials.
