Dental Assistant

Herald Christian Health Center (HCHC) is actively seeking qualified dental assistants to join our team. As a non-profit community clinic and Federally Qualified Health Center, we serve the San Gabriel Valley and San Diego, CA.

Our Mission:

HCHC is dedicated to providing quality, affordable holistic healthcare to low-income, uninsured, and medically indigent populations. Our patient community primarily includes limited English proficient immigrants from China, Hong Kong, Vietnam, and Taiwan.

We are looking for a dental assistant with previous experience in a dental practice who shares our mission and is passionate about serving the underserved. As a recognized Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA), we focus on improving care coordination and treatment management for our patients. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Assist the dentist at chairside during all phases of dentistry, utilizing four-handed dentistry techniques.

- Perform pre-op and post-op clinical preparations, set up instruments, and arrange dental materials in the correct sequence.

- Ensure all dental consent forms, health histories, and other necessary paperwork are completed and signed before patient seating.

- Record and inform the dentist of vital signs (e.g., blood pressure, pulse) prior to procedures.

Minimum Requirements:

- RDA certification from the Dental Board of California is not required.

- Current X-ray License (if not held, must agree to obtain it within three months of employment).

- CPR certification from an approved instructor.

- High School Diploma or GED.

- Prior dental practice experience is required.

- Flexible availability, including evenings and weekends; punctuality is essential.

- Basic computer skills and the ability to multi-task.

- Strong team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Requirements:

- Occasional light lifting (up to 25 pounds) and some bending or stooping.

- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods; considerable walking may be required.
