
Dental Assistant - Tier 1
Job Description
As a Dental Assistant, you’ll play a vital role in supporting quality dental care by preparing treatment rooms, patients, and equipment, assisting during procedures, and ensuring everything runs smoothly according to dental practice standards and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare treatment rooms following established protocols and sterilization procedures
- Welcome, seat, and prepare patients for treatment, ensuring comfort and care
- Assist the dentist chairside during procedures by passing instruments, suctioning, and maintaining clear visibility
- Sterilize and deliver instruments to treatment areas; properly set up trays and equipment
- Mix, prepare, and place materials as needed for dental procedures
- Take and process dental x-rays; pour, trim, and polish study models
- Fabricate temporary restorations and clean/polish removable appliances
- Respond to dental/medical emergencies and maintain CPR certification and emergency supplies
- Provide oral hygiene instruction and post-operative care information to patients
- Accurately chart dental care and maintain comprehensive patient records
- Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA and privacy policies
- Follow infection control policies and OSHA regulations to ensure a safe and clean environment
- Troubleshoot and maintain dental equipment, schedule preventive maintenance, and coordinate repairs
- Manage supply inventory: track stock levels, place orders, and verify deliveries
- Practice responsible resource use to minimize waste
- Stay current in the field through continuing education, networking, and training
- Collaborate with the dental team to ensure optimal patient outcomes and office efficiency
Skills & Qualifications:
- Strong understanding of dental health and hygiene practices
- Familiarity with dental tools, equipment, and materials
- Certified in radiology and CPR (or willing to obtain)
- Knowledge of infection control procedures and OSHA guidelines
- Excellent communication and patient service skills
- Ability to work well in a team and adapt in a fast-paced environment
- Professional, reliable, and detail-oriented
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities

- Previous experience as a Dental Assistant
