Dental Assistant - Pediatric and Orthodontic
Job Description
Job Duties:
- Assist the dentist during various dental procedures.
- Prepare and sterilize dental instruments and equipment.
- Take and develop dental X-rays.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-operative care.
- Perform dental charting and maintain documentation in electronic medical records (EMR) systems, such as Epic.
- Assist with medical coding and billing processes.
- Provide chairside assistance for pediatric and orthodontic procedures.
- Conduct patient assessments, including taking vital signs and updating medical histories.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of an accredited dental assisting program or equivalent experience.
- Familiarity with dental terminology, procedures, and instruments.
- Experience with electronic medical records systems, particularly Epic.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with patients of all ages, including children.
- Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and adhering to HIPAA regulations.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
Note: Experience with medical records management is a plus.
Salary: Compensation is based on:
1. Years and level of skill/experience in pediatric and orthodontic assisting.
2. Availability for shifts and hours.
3. Educational background and DANB certifications.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $17.00 - $25.00 per hour
Expected Hours: 16 – 40 hours per week
