Job Description
Chicago Family Health Centers is seeking a skilled and compassionate Dental Assistant to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will support our dental team by providing high-quality chairside assistance, maintaining clinical areas, and helping deliver exceptional patient care. Ideal candidates are organized, detail-oriented, and committed to working in a collaborative, patient-focused environment.
Compensation: Based on experience and qualifications
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- One extended shift per week: 12:00 PM – 8:00 PM
- Saturday rotation: 8:00 AM – 1:00 PM
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist dentists chairside during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques
- Record medical and dental histories and charting as directed by the dentist
- Prepare operatories: clean and sterilize instruments, set up trays, and restock supplies
- Maintain cleanliness of equipment in operatories, lab, and sterilization areas
- Take and record vital signs (blood pressure and pulse)
- Prepare patients: seat, gown, and apply lip lubricant
- Remove oral debris using water, compressed air, and suction
- Mix dental materials for use during procedures
- Receive removable prosthetics for cleaning and repair
- Perform coronal polishing and apply pit and fissure sealants (certification required)
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of a Dental Assistant program
- CPR certification (must be current or obtained upon hire)
- Certificate in coronal polishing and sealant application
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of dental materials, tools, and equipment
- Experience working with diverse populations preferred
